Does anyone have any updates from the July SowDiv meeting? Tentative race schedule, changes, etc? I know we cannot expect minutes to be published for 1/2 year or more, so an informal fly on the wall brief would be great. Thanks.

Here's kind of a brief overview of what was discussed...

Updates coming for the SRO program. Jim Lowe will be able to explain more, and I believe updates will be posted on the website.

Run groups stay the same, and in the same order. Jerry Hooten is going to work on writing rules for ITT (IT Truck) based off those on the East Coast. I'm going to tackle ITL (IT LeMons) to help get some of the LeMons and ChumpCars legal.

Below is the PROPOSED schedule for 2012. Yes, that's correct, all double Rationals, minus the March double National. The Regional/Enduro will be a divisional race, with more details to come later.

Feb. 25-26 R/N/R/N Polar Prix Double Rational Houston MSR Houston- CCW
Mar. 9-11 N/N Texas Two Step Double National Lone Star TWS- 2.9
April 7-8 R/N/R/N Screamin Eagles Spring Classic Texas ECR
May 4-6 R/N/R/N Sunburn Grand Prix Texas TMS
May 26-27 R/N/R/N Lone Star Grand Prix Lone Star TWS- 2.9
Sept. 1-2 R/N/R/N Labor Day Grand Prix Houston MSR Houston- CW
Oct. 13-14 R/R Fall Roundup Double Regional Texas ECR
Nov. 17-18 R/E Revenge of the Turkey Regional/Enduro Divisional TWS- 2.9
Dec. 8-9 R/R Snow Bird Double Regional Houston MSR Houston- CCW & CW

Cool, thanks Syd... wow, no specific driver's school next season... any of the event's featuring one within a race weekend?

You mentioned all are double rationals except the enduro weekend, but the Oct and Dec dates are listed just as double regionals, which is right? Still a bunch of nationals either way...

I really like that most of the races are Rationals. I think that is a great concept to keep the numbers up. Great job.

The current model for a drivers' school is no longer reasonable for regions or divisions. It's historically been a money losing event. The division is exploring options to do a driver mentoring program that would allow novice drivers to earn their license through monitored track activity. It's being developed, and hopefully can be implemented during the 2012 season and further.

The GCR doesn't allow any national races between the Runoffs and the first of the year, therefore everything has to be regionals or enduros.

Glad to hear your support.

Thanks. syd.
