Double Yellows at Summer Sizzler

Post by austin flagger » Sun Aug 18, 2013 8:53 pm

Wanted to congratulate Ed Hunter and Houston region on the best design of a purpose built Double Yellow flag set that I've seen. Got to use this magnificent setup at Turn13 on Saturday at the Houston region Summer Sizzler at MSRH. Ed made them from aluminum flag posts that split apart in the middle (one tube goes inside the other and uses a popup spring loaded button to snap together), and will lay side by side when taken apart, very compact. The two flag squares are attached to each other with short section of material where you hold them with other hand. Well done!

The event was fun, they had PDX and Club Time Trials plus the 4 racing run groups. Each group got four 20 minute sessions, the 3rd session was a "qualifying race" for the 4th session, so essentially 2 races each day for each club racing group. That was neat. The PDX and Club trials don't have to have purpose built race cars (i.e. street cars, though some were actual race prepped cars) and it is hoped that will generate more club racers in the long run. Great idea.
